3D Map Mode

Activating 3D mode
In any map view that supports 3D mode, you will find the 3D button next to the compass and zoom buttons in the top-right of the screen. Simply click on it to activate 3D mode. A slider will then appear below allowing you to tilt the map up or down. The Maps and trails menu lets you to switch between the available maps and layers. You can choose to hide the trails and activity networks, as well as various additional layers, until you find the combination you want.
To return to 2D mode, simply click again on the button that will now be displaying '2D'.
Operating the map in 3D
Desktop
To look around the 3D map, hold down the right mouse button while moving the mouse.
You can tilt the map by moving the mouse up and down. Alternatively, you can tilt the map using the slider mentioned above under the 3D button to adjust your viewing angle.
You can rotate the map by moving the mouse left and right. The compass shows your viewing direction and provides two buttons to rotate the map step by step. Click the compass to rotate the map back to north.
You can change the zoom level in the usual way using the mouse wheel or the two zoom buttons.
Mobile web
On the mobile web, you can use two fingers to change the map view in 3D mode.
To tilt the view, swipe up or down with two fingers at the same time. No slider is displayed.
Rotating and zooming the map works in the same way as in 2D mode.
Good to know
- If the slider is at the top, the flattest viewing angle is set and the relief is most clearly visible. The view from above is set when the slider is at the bottom.
- 3D mode is only available on maps that show a 3D button. 3D mode is currently not available in the Route Planner.
- 3D mode is currently only available on the web (desktop and mobile).
- 3D mode is also only available for Pro+ users.
